B-BBEE Level 1

Supplier development

With a culture of nurturing emerging suppliers, implementing skill development initiatives and fair employment equity strategies, Capitol Caterers is proud to have retained a B-BBEE Level 1 status over many years.

The initiatives of our supplier development programme are structured to support service provision and develop capabilities from historically disadvantaged individuals and communities.

On-going capital ventures include organic tunnel farming initiatives from which we procure a selection of fresh vegetables, the supply of freshly baked goods from emerging bakers and farmers of micro herbs.

Capitol Caterers Workers Trust

Staff Upliftment

Capitol Caterers embraces a culture of ‘Family’ and in the upliftment and prosperity of their staff.

In 2002 with a vision of empowering and rewarding the loyalty of staff for long service, founder Giles King transferred 21% of the company’s shareholding through a free share issue and formed the Capitol Workers Trust. This percentage now stands at 49%.

Staff qualify as beneficiaries of the Capitol Workers Trust after five years of service and regularly receive dividends based on the company’s performance.

Beneficiaries describe the impact the Workers Trust initiative has had on their lives.

“My mother has worked for the company since I was 10 years old. I am now 31. Thank you, Capitol Caterers,
for taking care of us. We really appreciate the impact you have made in our lives.”

“I have saved all the money received from the Trust. My heart is happy
knowing that I will retire well with the proceeds from my investments.”

“Being a beneficiary of the Capitol Worker’s Trust empowers and motivates me.
I am grateful to be employed by a company that cares for their staff.”
