2 cups rolled oats
1 cup pearled barley
1 cup buckwheat
¾ white quinoa
½ linseed (flax)
Make this mixture and keep in an airtight container until needed.

To make the porridge:
1 cup five grain mixture
1 ½ cups water
2 cups milk
1 tsp salt


  1. Combine all the above ingredients in a pot and bring to the boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and allow the porridge to simmer for 15 – 20 minutes.
  3. Serve with a good dollop of butter or thick cream and a drizzle of honey or sprinkling of sugar.
