Capitol Caterers once again scooped the Business of the Year in the Services Sector at this year’s Nedbank Pietermaritzburg and Midlands Chamber of Business (PMCB) awards at the Weekend.
Capitol Caterers is a national company with its head office in Pietermaritzburg. The company was launched in 1992 with only four catering contracts. Today, they have over 100 contracts serving the health, education, commercial and retirement sectors.
They have since expanded their business across the country and are currently rated amongst the top five contract catering companies in South Africa.
An admirable attribute of Capitol Caterers is that the shareholders give 49,2% share of the business to a “Worker’s Trust”. Employees who have worked for five years and more received dividends in 2019.
“It is an honour to be able to recognise Capitol Caterers, not only for the success of this home-grown operation, but also for their vision encouraging all South Africans to move towards successful co-operative business ventures that build greater inclusivity. Russell Nzimande and Merrill King, you are truly inspirational,” said Melanie Veness CEO of the business chamber.
