B-BBEE Status

Certificate-Capitol-Caterers-BS-G-9993-190605

The journey of transformation at Capitol Caterers commenced long before it became compulsory for businesses to conform to B-BBEE practices in South Africa.

The company has repeatedly been awarded its B-BBEE Level 1 Status; a category which demands distinction in skills development, employment equity, ethical business practices and financial sustainability .

Only businesses who are truly passionate about the well-being of their staff can commit to the rigours and demands of qualifying for B-BBEE Level 1 Status. This we do with on-going determination.

The Workers Trust

Much of the company's success can be attributed to a stable workforce; driven by a business culture of empowerment, transformation, skills development and staff ownership through The Workers Trust.

We are a progressively transformed business with a vested interest in our employee's wellbeing.

Founder of Capitol Caterers, Giles King, significantly transformed the company in 2002 by transferring 21% of the company's ownership to The Workers' Trust. This was the first initiative of its kind in industry at the time and indicative of the company's belief in truly empowering their staff. This percentage has now escalated to 49% with beneficiaries receiving regular dividend declarations.

The Workers Trust is administered by independent financial institutions with documentation transparent to the beneficiaries.

Comments from some of the beneficiaries show the impact the initiative has has had on their lives:

"With the first dividend
I bought a cow and now I have 3.
It also contributed towards my children's education."

"Today
I own my home
through working for Capitol Caterers and being part of the Workers Trust."

"It's added so much value to my life,
knowing that I am working for a company
that rewards its employees
by allowing us to be part of the company
and helping us uplift our lives and our families lives too."
