Not only can Capitol Caterers boast about their effective employee benefits through the Workers Trust initiative, but they can also proudly claim their level 1 B-BBEE status.
Obtaining and retaining level B-BBEE 1 ensures a strong focus on Employment Equity, training, learnership programmes, empowerment and career development amongst many other B-BBEE requirements.
Only businesses who are truly passionate about the wellbeing of their staff can commit to the rigours and demands of qualifying for level 1 status. Capitol has, for many years, been a correctly transformed business, with a vested interest from all members of staff.
Much of Capitol Caterers success can be attributed to a stable workforce, stemming from a strong empowerment ethic.
Founder, Giles King, initiated a momentous decision in 2002 to give 21% of the company's ownership to the Workers' Trust. That percentage has now ballooned to 49% and beneficiaries all receive their share from regular dividend declarations.
Comments from some of the beneficiaries show the impact the initiative has has had on their lives:
"With the first dividend
I bought a cow and now I have 3.
It also contributed towards my children's education."
I own my home
through working for Capitol Caterers and being part of the Workers Trust."
"It's added so much value to my life,
knowing that I am working for a company
that rewards its employees
by allowing us to be part of the company
and helping us uplift our lives and our families lives too."
